So I was searching the internet for a great store that carried a variety of items and that the age range was larger. I then came across Ape to Zebra and the selection was large. While searching their site I found so many great products that are safe. They have strict rules on what products they carry. It's great because they are concerned about the latest lead related toy recalls and stay up to date.
Ape to Zebra specialize in safe educational toys as well as natural and environmentally friendly toys including German made wooden and soft toys, Wood toys made in Thailand and toys made in USA and other countries from all over the world. They truly make decisions about the quality of the toys you buy, the educational benefits and the origin of the toys and hope that the list of toy manufacturers and information on where their toys are manufactured will be of help to you. It's great because they concerned about the latest lead related toy recalls so they only feature products that are safe for children to explore.
Ape to Zebra have some great added bonuses on their site. My husband and I are trying for a second and on their site they have a list of baby names and how popular they are. Thanks for making it easier to find a name. :) Also on their site they have a section to child development. They go into detail about each age group and define fine and gross motor skills. They also have more great skills defined for you.
Ape to Zebra makes shopping super easy for you! I went to through the sidebar and they had categories for all ages, manufactures, toy brand, best seller, accessories, award winning, by theme, product type.
So you want to win this great prize?
Please enter here by February 15Th, 2009 by 12 P.M. CST
The winner will be personally picked by Ape to Zebra so make it count and get noticed :)
Head over to Ape to Zebra and come back and tell me what products you love and why. Also tell me if there are any products you would like to see in the store.
Please feel free to follow me or blog about the giveaway. They will not be counted as additional entries since Ape to Zebra will be picking the winner.
Thanks for entering and I wish you all good luck!

My daughter would absolutely love the Magic Hoofbeats book. I love that they sell things that go with it. I know she would love the stationary and diary to go with it. I love that they something for such a wide range in ages and activities.

THE Discovery Wagon - wooden toddler baby walker push toy by Haba Baby Toys WOULD BE GREAT FOR MY GRANDSON
love the monster bowling
I teach Kindergarten in a low-income school district and I would love to have some of these items for my classroom..specifically the games. From an educators standpoint these products are great because they utilize and pinpoint a variety of skills necessary for a kindergartner's development like fine motor and balancing skills ( balancing cactus game, cone sorting), number concepts (king of numbers,) (spot the dots),and the majority of the games involve social skills and team work. These characteristics make these games very fun to play and enhancing for skill development and learning in the classroom. I also really like how most of the games are self-correcting because it puts more responsibility on student learning and less adult involvement is required. I would love to win this prize so that I may add some of these valuable games to my classroom learning environment.
Monster Bowling Children Bowling Pins would be great for my kids.

3 Stacking Fish Wooden Waldorf Stacking Toy by Grimm's Spiel und Holz Design is something I found that I like. It can even be a kind of pop art when your child is not playing with it.
I love Plan Toys so I'm very glad that Ape to Zebra carries them. I'd love to get my son the Plan Toys Musical Band Percussion set because he love the PT banjo and I know he'd love this
I love this:
Haba Blossom Sky Play Tent is simply a magnificent hanging tent, reminiscent of a fairy garden. Girls will absolutely fall in love with the absolutely beautiful Blossom Sky Play Tent from Haba. No wonder Blossom Sky has been a Haba best selling ...
so fun!

I like the spelling puzzles for preschoolers because I teach preschool, all the products looked great!
I love all the pretend play foods. They are so realistic and well made. I can't think of anything that could be added. When I saw the pretend play ironing board, I had to laugh. If I gave that to my granddaughters, they wouldn't know what is was. Their mom doesn't even own an iron or ironing board. She things the dryer is made to remove wrinkles.
traymona[at]aol.com
I love the grimm wooden puzzles because they are so beautiful and made one at a time. I hate mass produced! I would like to see more cat items
I like the "Haba Click-Clack Ball Track".
My son attends elementary school and his favorite subject is science. He loves all things that have to deal with science. He even says he wants to be a scientist when he grows up, which I think is fabulous! I was wowed by all the cool science toys at Ape to Zebra. I am sure my son would love to own all of them! The one product I thought was really cool was the Moon in My Room Astronomy Toy. I think it would be great to display in my son's room. He loves looking at the moon and with this toy he could also learn more about the moon phases.
talonsmom731(at)gmail(dot)com
My daughters would be thrilled to own any of the pretend kitchen toys. Especially the Rabbit Baking Set.
Finally, a toy store I can trust! I really love the baby and toddler toys, in particular, the brightly colored Rainbomaker musical instrument!
I love their marble runs, especially the Ball Track Construction Set for beginners. It's a toy that grows with your child. My son discovered them when he was two and hasn't stopped playing since.
gkstratos@yahoo.com
I love the Square Building Blocks.

Turquoise Motor Ball shaped like a bug. How cute is that? There are so many great gifts here and so nice to find fun education toys.

I am a subscriber.
i just love this site ! to pick by country is just too neat ! i am German and was so suprised to see Haba Knitting Mushroom - Crocheting knitting toy - i had that when i was a little girl - long ..long time ago :) Memories :) wow !
anyways ... i would pick ,of course, the Haba Knitting Mushroom - and some other German Toys. thanks bunches:)
I added you to my Google Reader!
I would love to have the 3 Stacking Fish Wooden Waldorf Stacking Toy. Very clever!
Sophie the Giraffe teether and and the Monster Bowling set are two of my favorites from Ape to Zebra. They have a great selection.
I love the bowling set
I love that they have HABA toys. I have many of these soft toys and the wooden blocks for my kids. I want to get the Threading Animals Lacing Toy by Haba Toys for my son to work on his fine motor skills soon.
The wooden train set and town building blocks would appeal to both my sons and their dad. My husband is just as big of a kid as they are and would probably play with them as much as the boys would. We would love to win! Thanks so much for the chance.
LOVE THE BOWLING SET! THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY!
In our house, we need:
Wooden Play Table for Train Sets, Puzzles, Dollhouses etc.
My little nephew would love the Action Train Wooden Train set. Thank you for the great give-away.
I would love to have the Quercetti Toys - Discovery Car. My three year old grandson is autistic, but remarkably gifted in mechanical things. His greatest joy is taking things apart, and most often he puts them right back together again. This would be an amazing learning toy for him. It would be great to find toys like this in stores for gifted special children like him.
I would love to be able to buy the
Excavator Digger with Tracks - 160 Pieces Heros Constructor Kit for my nephew. He would go bananas! There are so many great , safe toys here!!
dugsdream at gmail dot com
Our son loves his Sophie. The Bathtime Fishing Boat - 3 in one Baby Bath Toy looks like fun too. I can't think of anything they should carry except perhaps the other teethers, besides Sophie, that Vulli makes. Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com
I love the Uberstix - Sailboat Construction Kit and Uberstix Build It Set (and actually most all of the Big Kid toys on the site!). In this day & age, I am always on the lookout for toys to keep my children occupied that are NOT electronic! It seems that kids older than 3rd graders are always hooked into some Game Boy or DS, and I find they don't think that other things are fun. UNTIL THEY DO THEM! I look for outdoorsy toys and toys that will continue to help them grow socially and educationally. Toys that use engineering or science are especially great for this age! This sailboat construction kit is wonderful in that it uses recycled materials, helps them with building skills (i.e. math and spatial skills) and gets them outside!
I like HABA's Baby Blanket Sheep nanny and Bear Baby Gift Set by Haba Baby Gifts, because HABA'S products are high quality, safe and environmentally friendly!
Thanks :)
I really love the Pommella Baby Soft Discovery Toy for my son!!
The Discovery Wagon
I really like the way the website is set up, with information about each stage of your childs life and what skills they are learning. Having a degree in psychology and with a daughter who teaches pre-school, and a toddler grandchild, I applaud all opportunities to educate parents in childhood development. In addition, I have been somewhat disappointed at the many of the toys these days and miss the types of toys that are shown on Ape to Zebra. The sturdy, safe, and quality made toys that allow a child to use their imagination! I really like the Toddler push toys, especially the Colorful Harlekyn Push toy !
my grandaughter would love the fold and go doll house they have so many great things on this site.
I like the Terra Kids Wristwatch Green - 30 m Waterproof Wristwatch. My daughter is fascinated with watches, but most are too flimsy or clumsy for her. This looks great.
Jennifer, jennem22 at yahoo dot com
The magic tricks in a box is really cool, Thanks, Godesseablu@msn.com
Oh, my goodness there's just so many toys out there. I'm glad you can select by price, brand and age! The website is very organized!
I absolutely love the Large Rainbow Rings, very original and they look like a lot of fun, not only for my youngest but also for my 2 other kids.
Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!
ann dot guns at mac dot com
I would love the monster bowling pins for my grandson!
I love the large wooden rainbow, I would love to see some sort of dress up items
mcginnisfamily5(at)gmail(dot)com
My son is a little young yet for the Haba Cordoba building blocks -- http://www.ape2zebra.com/haba-cordoba-building-blocks.asp -- but they are just so amazing. Colorful, creative, clearly designed to stimulate a child's developing mind. Maybe I want them for me. ;-)
I love the puzzles - I'd be hard pressed to pick which one, but I like the chameleon (sp?) one a lot. It's hard to find puzzles that are challenging for a 3 y.o., without being too hard.
Reading thru some of the comments tho, made me go back and check out the bowling (very cool) and the Haba board games too. Tons of great stuff!
dianna_ball@hotmail.com
They have soo much for newborns! I love the stacking balls cuz they are soft! I would just have to make sure that it doesn't become a dog toy haha! Can't wait till my little one gets here! One more month!

my daughter oohed over the rainbow stacker. she loves her rainbows. everything ware really cute!
Oh, my! Ape to Zebra is the electronic equivalent of the high-end toy store that my husband, I, and our four girls like to admire and window-shop in! I'm excited to see quality wooden toys becoming more popular and more available here in the States, and I'd love to see more of the German children's board games become widely available, too.
There's way too much goodness to choose from at Ape to Zebra, but one toy we think is neat is the European Food Basket filled with wooden pretend play food by Haba Toys. We also love the Geosafari telescope and microscope!
leftymylou at gmail dot com
I have a 3 year old grandchild who is part HIspanic. She loves to take her toys or even home decor like a nativity set pretend the characters are little families. She likes to make them families of four. Then I saw the Ethnic Family Wooden Dollhouse Dolls by Plan Toys and thought this would be perfect!
rosans4@cocmast.net
My son would love the Land of Dragons Wooden Puzzle Stacking Game. He loves the repetition of games like this.
Thanks for the giveaway!
hetz-junk(at)hotmail(dot)com
I loved everything on that site! But I have to say, my absolute fav would be the roadway and cars from plan city. We are slowly building a whole town for our little boy to play with. I think he needs the construction crane next! Wooden toys like the ones from Plan toys and Melissa & doug are made so well and our son really enjoys them. Thanks so much for having such an awesome giveaway!!!
I am having my first baby in a few months and I love how you have the information on your website about Newborn Baby Development. If it weren't for articles such as this, and suggestions from "those in the know", I wouldn't know what I should be getting and at what stage! The Frog Baby Squeaky Clutching Toy and the Labellies (Ikibab) dolls are so cute! I'd love to have them!
HobartsMama AT aol.com
I think the HABA Tier auf Tier (Animal upon Animal) Children Stacking Animals Game looks great. We have a puzzle with a few animals cut out like this and we love stacking them up so a game with a whole bunch of them would be even better!
katiekarr at gmail dot com
I love one of each of the instruments my kids love to make music!
ajcmeyer at go DOt com
So many great things here! I love the Lilli doll, the HABA Fantasy Land jigsaw puzzle, Monster Bowling pins, the Dwarf house... what a great shop for a toddler shopping spree! My daughter's 2nd birthday is next month, so I've got my fingers crossed for this one. :)
jg AT jennaglatzer.com
I like the Haba Blossom Sky - Play tent with padded floor mat. My daughter always loves to play tent with blankets, this is so cute, she'd love it!
Whenever we visit my Mom and Dad's my boys are almost immediatly playing with my brothers old 1970's Hotwheels garage. The love to line the cars up and make up stories about who is going where. I have searched for something similar that isn't a race track or crazy million part set and the parking garage by Plan Toys I saw on your site is exactly what I have been searching for, so if I won that is what I would buy! Great stuff guys!
colesammom at gmail dot com
Seriously, I could give you a list a mile long of the toys I love over there! (it's pretty much all of them!) But for the sake of everyone who has to read LOL I will just give you a couple:
Automoblox: My son is hugely into cars right now and I'm getting sick of buying metal and/or plastic matchbox cars for him - this is something worth spending my money on!
Moon in my Room: My son loves to point out and watch the moon when we are outside at night - having a moon in his room would be awesome!
I also love, basically, all of the instruments - my boys love to make music! (the banjo is especially cute!) And the Knight's Play Tent and Land of Dragons Wooden Puzzle Stacking Toddler Toy!
I love that Ape to Zebra carries toys made in Germany. I was recently over there visiting my parents and had the chance to see how they live. Germans are very concerned about their health and the environment and knowing that, I know they would make safe toys for children.
One of the many toys that I liked while visiting Ape to Zebra is the Haba Domino Race Set . I can imagine my little ones having a blast playing with it! (My husband and I would probably love it too. ;-) )
khmorgan_00 [at] yahoo [dot] com
Haba Castle Knights looks like a fun game. My daughter loves to build things and play princess so this would be great for her.
I love all The Toddler Puzzles that you have! I'd love to see more stuff aimed for girls though. Besides the Dolls I really didn't see anything! Thanks
e-mail: hmahan_0529@yahoo.com
I love the Cuski Natural Towel Dolls and the Grimm's Curved Waldorf Building Blocks. I'd like to see a lot more baby toys!
My son would ADORE the Wooden Pirate Ship Pretend Play Set! I LOVE Plan Toys-- what a great toy store online!!
Well to start off....I LOVE the name of their store. That is what hooked me right off. I am a mother of four boys (including twins) and I teach preschool from home to 10 four year-olds so visiting Ape to Zebra is like Christmas morning for me!
I only found about...hmm....a million things I would love to buy! I love how it's set up for me to find anything I might have my eye on or if I just want to browse. I am all about finding toys that are safe and fun and a break from electronics!
I love all of the pretend play toys for preschoolers like the Play Cooker and The Pirate ship. My preschool has an emphasis in music so I love the xylophone, musical band, rattle, bells, banjo, drums, I LOVE them all! They are so cute and kid friendly!
I also love their puppets, and train sets, and I would love the Terra Kids Belt Bag and all of the other outdoor stuff for my eight year old.
Okay, I could go on and on. I am really hoping I win this one! Since I teach preschool from home I don't have extra money to buy things like this. But whether I win or not I'm glad I found this site. Thanks so much!
This is adorable: Ages: 3 Years and Up Green Wooden Farm Tractor and Trailer Toy Made by Plan Toys. Thanks.
My son would LOVE this: Dudley Dump Truck Friction powered truck with motorised tipping action Made by WOW Toys Sounds so fun!
I like their selection of soft dolls, particularly the one called "Kaethe Kruse Baby It's Me Brown Waldorf Doll". My toddler is 2 and loves to cradle and rock her dollies. She is very maternal with them and snuggles up real tight with them, so I love the fact that the Waldorf doll is certified free of harmful chemicals. What a relief to know that she won't be breathing in toxic substances into her system!.
Thank you for this great giveaway!

Ape to Zebra is a breath of fresh air after dealing with all the noisy electronic toys that are in large stores. I've been thinking I need to get rid of the plastic toys for my 18 month old and stick with toys more natural and imaginative. It was so easy to search for toddler toys for just the right age group. I have to say I would have a very hard time picking from the soft toys like Monster Bowling Pins and the Haba Castle and the wooden blocks and instruments. I also appreciate the informative information found at the bottom of the pages on the website about toddler play.
what an amazing selection of toys! exactly what i look for for my daughter...bright, well-made, and full of imagination. i love the Wooden Tabletop Play Cooker - Pretend Play Kitchen Stove with 2 Cook Tops. It would be perfect for our small apartment because it can go on an existing table and inspire hours of "cooking" fun!
elkesten at yahoo dot com
Where to start! I love the colorful wooden blocks (grimms wooden toys) and that rainbow! I am a sucker for all things stack/nest! So the fire/water/air blocks!
I love it!
I like the Labellies Baby Soft Ball because it's a nice soft toy that even infants can play with safety, and more importantly, siblings can play with without wanting to chuck it at someone!
wpfarmgirl@yahoo.com
The Wooden Logging Truck with Loggs are just too cute!! My grandson would have many hours of play with these!!
Thanks for the giveaway!!
I really like Plan Toys--because they're made from natural materials (and they look like FUN). My kids would love the Hammer Balls - Wooden Toddler Ball Pounding Toy. Thanks!
I like the plan toys and the automoblox for my son. The site is really great with all of the developmental information, I just wish there was a way to further sort the products, like narrowing by price or further narrowing the age range
How timely! We are studying Germany in our homeschool this week and have been talking about things that Germany produces. Now I can show my kiddos this cool site and show them all the great wooden toys that are made in Germany. I have a feeling they may want to move there...
The selection is amazing and I appreciate the low/free shipping. I am going to get some of the play food for my budding chef of a daughter and a Heros Constructor Kit for my building boys.
Thanks for turning me on to this great site!
I have been looking for a gift for a friend who is expecting and I really think I like the Baby's first blocks-soft town set. Hmm...good gift idea.

my toddler is obsessed with trains (something he got from his dad!) so i would love to buy the Super-train - 57 pcs, train set. he would be so busy with that allowing me to get some work done around the house!
as for what i'd like to see, i wish the store carried arts/crafts products for kids. kids loooooove to draw and paint and it really gets their imagination running...i would love to see more of those!

Little Amsterdam Wooden Building Blocks are my favorite, I love that blocks open up the creativity and ingenuity of children. They can be many different things, you can see how high you can build, you can build simply to knock down, you can build to house your dolls. There are millions of possibilities in several simple wooden shapes.
I would love to be a kid again, so I too can spend hours with the possibilities!
mommyhoodisthankless[AT}gmail.com
The Romanic Architectural Building Blocks by Haba Blocks are my favorite. I love giving different types of building toys to the kids.
I love the Haba pretend food. I did not see any Haba jewlery on the site (unless I missed it) Haba makes some pretty jewlery for children so I think that would be a great addition to the site. Love the name Ape to Zebra!
The Monster Bowling Children Bowling Pins are great.
I really like the Haba Beetle Dance German European Mobile. My cousin is expecting twins, so i have to see if she has received a mobile yet. Thanks for the giveaway!!

I really like the Wooden Toddler Pushing Car by Haba. Anything made in Europe-Germany-I would like to see more of.
My first thought when I saw the Master Pogo Stick on Ape to Zebra's site was that our lawn would at least be aerated. Very nice. But then again, I think the kinder inherited Dad's coordination...so our lawn might just end up looking rumpled and upturned. Our daughter has been begging for a pogo stick for about a year. Perhaps it's time to retest her skills. My nerves are almost healed from the last effort.
I think I'd love to see more learning kits...perhaps from Thames & Kosmos! Great stuff.
the website is impressive! My husband and I have been seeking out brands we'd actually trust enough to buy for our daughter and I think just about everything we've come across is in the store! Sustainably made with materials that are safe for children!
I love the PLAN doll's playground set. We'd love to get our daughter one of their doll houses one day and that set is just so fun for playing with dolls!
I have a nephew who is three and he is incredibly inquisitive and creative, very advanced for his age. His birthday is coming up and I think that the Square Wooden Building Blocks would be perfect for him as they would nurture his curiosity.
Love the pound and play - its fun and teaches hand eye coordination, love the puzzles like the construction peg puzzles, and the land of dragons stacking game.
The Monster Bowling Children Bowling Pins would be great for my grand-daughter.
like the discovery wagon
I just recently helped a dear friend donate some toys and books to the Toy Library at the Huntington Hotel. It's a subsidized hotel around the corner in downtown L.A. This is a fairly bleak place and has 22 families and sometimes children in these areas are forgotten. Well at the Huntington - not anymore!!!
Here's an article about it: http://ladowntownnews.com/articles/2008/09/08/news/09-08-08-news05.txt
It was really nice to do something for our favorite people - kids! Paying it forward creates such magic in their lives! It would be so special to donate an Ape to Zebra eco~friendly toy or two or even three to one of these sweet kiddies!
And, my favorite toys? I love, love, love the Wooden Pirate Ship Pretend Play Set with Pirate Captain, Sailors and Accessories and the Tori Natural Wooden Rocking Horse by PLAN TOYS. Actually, I love everything! That's why I just had to sign up for their newsletter. I'd be remiss not to stay in the Ape to Zebra loop.
And, if I could suggest one thing I'd love to see in their store, it would definitely be eco~friendly writing paper!
I am so appreciative of a store like Ape to Zebra and all the eco~friendly love they put into the toys they sell and the ethics and integrity they uphold to make this a world a brighter place for our children!
Thanks so much for this fabulous give~away! : )))
leahita[at]gmail[dot]com
I'm very interested in the baby learning toys and wish I could have one of each. I love the bright colors and fine workmanship and I especially like the number of musical toys. I believe I'd start off choosing the Baby Tambourine, Baby's First Wind Chimes - Ocean, and Bettino Musical Ball Pounding Hammering Toy.

WOW!! This store has an amazing selection of learning toys! We don't homeschool, but we send our kid to a democratic free school so we try to expose her as much as possible to things and ideas she might be interested in exploring further. I LOVE the Horrible History Series and the Grimm's Wooden Toys.
What's missing? Hard to say - they have a variety that's pretty unique. It's a well curated shop. Maybe some real cooking kits for kids.
I love the Kathe Kruse Pink Beanbag Unicorn because it's so pretty and I adore unicorns! You could say it "galloped" into my heart, tee hee. I would like to see more unicorn themed items in your terrific store. Thanks for this great contest!
